Before, when a federal regulatory agency set the price for all tickets, airlines had to compete with each other based on luxuries, one of which was larger, more roomy seats. Now that the airlines are competing on price, they need to pack in as many people as they can. Our airlines have been in poor financial shape since 9/11, they can't afford to send half-empty planes across the country anymore.<br /><br />Buying a plane ticket is a crapshoot for everyone. You never know who you will be in your row. I recommend that anybody who just CAN NOT handle the small chance that their seat will be next to an obese person should just purchase his or her own extra, empty seat.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
